Hot, Iced or Latte
How to Make Matcha
Making matcha at home is one of our favorite rituals. Whether you are making hot or iced matcha, matcha lattes or ceremonial matcha, this step-by-step guide will have you whiksing like a pro and eager to share with friends and family.
Everyday Matcha
Hot Matcha & Matcha Lattes
Warm your chawan with 195°F water and rest your whisk in the bowl to soften the tines. Discard your warming water and gently dry the bowl with your towel. Sift 2 grams of matcha powder (or one perfect matcha scoop) into your prepared bowl. Add approximately 2-3 ounces of 195°F water to your bowl. Whisk vigorously in a "W" motion until a thick crema has formed on top of your matcha. Add additional water, sweetener, and foamed milk as desired. Serve and enjoy!
Iced Matcha & Iced Matcha Lattes
Fill the smaller half of a Boston shaker with ice. Add the sweetener of your choice (we use a honey simple syrup that's one part honey and one part hot water). Measure 2 grams of Matcha Wakatake (or one perfect matcha scoop) into your shaker. Cover with water (for lattes only fill to 2/3 full), close the shaker, and shake vigorously for approximately 30 seconds. Serve and enjoy or top with cold frothed milk for an iced matcha latte.
